My basic search on Proquest I looked up "Dog Training" because my 8 month old puppy has way to much energy and is out of control. As I was typing "Dog Training" I noticed that it helps you come up with suggested topics right below what you are typing. I like on the right hand side how it gives you how many results are from each source like magazines, trade journals, and scholarly journals, etc. On the left hand side it gives you the icons which help you with what type of journal it is. I think that Proquest might be a bit to hard for the younger child.
I looked at a number of different blogs and found them very interesting and helpful.
I clicked on the publication tab and was very surprised at how many publications there are on Proquest. On the right hand side it had the publication narrowed down by source type. I noticed that Proquest smallest source is the newspaper which only has 65 publications. I enjoy looking at Newsweek so I searched for it. It has the publication issues from 1975 thur present. This is a great place to find that one issue that you may have lost.

SIRS Discoverer/ SIRS Issues Researcher
Challenge #3
SIRS Discoverer
1.) I look up antelope and found a number of articles on this. I like how it has the color code for reading levels. Great facts different age groups. In it I also found a article that had a activity which kids will find very interesting and fun. Great pictures also.
2.) I looked up the country Sweden. On the left hand side it gave you a quick reference of the country from the official name to the holiday/observances. The right hand side gives you a map and a picture of the flag. I like how you can find over 3000 detailed maps of the world. Great place for kids to go if they need a copy of a map. The other database feature I looked at was the science fair explorer. I found this to be a great resource. My 3rd grader needs to do a science experiment very soon so together we sat down and looked at this and discovered many experiments that she could do. She loved the site.
SIRS Issues Researcher
1.) I like how right at the beginning it helps you find a subject, you can look at the top 10 or you can use the visual browse to find a subject. I looked up Animal Welfare. This had a great overview of Animal Welfare it gives you the pro/cons of the issues. With the research tools the note organizer would be a great help for a student who is trying to get started.
2) In the Curriculum Pathfinders I looked up Health. When I put my mouse over Health it came up with more topics like Body Image, depression, teenage pregnancy, and many more. Then I clicked on Body Image then it went into different articles from Beauty pageants to Tanning Salons.

Challenge #2
- I already had a account for Learning Express Library. When I set up my account it was very easy and the patrons will also find it very easy to setup.
- All of the test that are on the Learning Express Library are going to be very helpful to patrons. I took the GED Language Arts Reading Test. After completing a couple of the questions I had the test scored. I like how it breaks it down into 4 parts to score it. (analysis, application, comprehension and synthesis). I also like that you can take other preparation test to help you. It is also very helpful that it gives you a explanation of the correct answer when you are done.
- Next I went into the Job Search Resume and Interview. Success on the Job. It came up with 2 ebooks, and 1 ecourse. I looked at one of the ebooks. Easy to download, navigate and read. The ecourse I looked at was the Career Course: Succeeding on the Job. I like on the left hand side that it gives you a course outline that you can work threw you can start and stop at any point. Learning Express Library has so much information for many ages of patrons and very useful.
