My basic search on Proquest I looked up "Dog Training" because my 8 month old puppy has way to much energy and is out of control. As I was typing "Dog Training" I noticed that it helps you come up with suggested topics right below what you are typing. I like on the right hand side how it gives you how many results are from each source like magazines, trade journals, and scholarly journals, etc. On the left hand side it gives you the icons which help you with what type of journal it is. I think that Proquest might be a bit to hard for the younger child.
I looked at a number of different blogs and found them very interesting and helpful.
I clicked on the publication tab and was very surprised at how many publications there are on Proquest. On the right hand side it had the publication narrowed down by source type. I noticed that Proquest smallest source is the newspaper which only has 65 publications. I enjoy looking at Newsweek so I searched for it. It has the publication issues from 1975 thur present. This is a great place to find that one issue that you may have lost.
Great report, Misi! I hope you found some articles to help you with your high-energy pup! You're right, ProQuest is not for young children. It is for high school and above. The Suggested Topics and limiters on the right sidebar help you narrow your search. We like ProQuest because it provides 24/7/365 access to popular, trade, and scholarly journals and more! Thanks for your comments.
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion for you re: dog training. Search "dog training levels" online, esp. a search engine like Google. We have service dogs in our family and a good way to start it using those levels! It is amazing how fast the dog learns in small increments!
