In WorldCat I looked up The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and it came up with 311 hits. I narrowed it down to books and there was 197 of them. I found out that there is 5688 libraries that own this item. Alexander Mitchell Library (AML) was the first library that came up. I found our library on there. It was very nice how it was highlighted in green.
The class descriptors came up with the Library of Congress as P27.C6837 and PS3603.04558. Suzanne Collins has also written Catching Fire, Mocking Jay, Gregor the Overlander and many more. There is many other subjects with this. I clicked on Television programs Fiction and it came up with other titles like Secrets by Danielle Steel or Comfort food by Katie Jacobs.
In the last part of the assignment, the subject phrase search for South Dakota resulted in 827 results. I looked at article on Wounded Knee and the Ghost Dance.
I'm not sure if I like WorldCat but I think that if I keep messing around with it it will become easier to use. I can see that it would be very useful.
You did a fine job, Misi. WorldCat is very librariany, but once you get the hang of it, you wonder how you got along without it. It is a place to find items not available within South Dakota, to find call #'s and subject headings, to find different formats of a title, etc. Thanks for your comments!
